With its opulent rooms, shell-lined grottoes, and tiered gardens bursting with exotic plants and fountains, it feels like a journey back in time. We then cruise to Isola dei Pescatori, a picturesque fishing village with quaint alleyways and lakeside cafés. Enjoy a lovely lakeside dinner before returning to our hotel by private boat.

A guided walking tour reveals Renaissance palaces, frescoed churches, and sweeping views of the countryside. Enjoy free time to savour regional specialties, perhaps homemade pasta, creamy polenta, and a glass of Valcalepio wine—before continuing to Verona, the romantic city of Romeo and Juliet, where we’ll settle in for a three-night stay.

LAKE GARDA

Today’s adventure begins with a scenic drive along the eastern shore of Lake Garda, where dramatic cliffs, glittering water, and charming lakeside towns create postcard-perfect views at every turn. We travel to the town of Lazise, with its medieval walls, cobblestone streets, and inviting waterfront promenade. After some time to wander and take in the lake’s serene beauty, we head into the hills to visit a family-run olive oil estate. Here, we tour the groves and learn about the centuries-old traditions of olive cultivation, followed by a guided tasting of their award-winning extra virgin oils, paired with fresh bread, cheese, and local wine. A light lunch of regional products completes this authentic experience. In the afternoon, we make a stop in the charming town of Garda before enjoying another picturesque drive back to Verona.

Day 8 | Wednesday, May 13  (B/L)

VERONA – VENTO COUNTRYSIDE – REGGIO EMILIA

Today is a true feast for the senses as we journey into the culinary heart of the Veneto region. We begin in the enchanting village of Valeggio sul Mincio, known for its romantic riverside setting and its signature dish—tortellini di Valeggio, delicate pasta said to be inspired by a tale of star-crossed lovers. A short walk along a scenic path brings us to Borghetto sul Mincio, a postcard-worthy hamlet with medieval watermills, stone cottages, and charming footbridges.  From there, we continue to Isola della Scala, a town renowned for producing Vialone Nano rice, prized for its use in authentic Italian risotto. At a traditional rice mill, we enjoy a guided visit that brings us behind the scenes of rice farming and production, learning how this regional staple becomes the star of so many Northern Italian dishes. Our experience culminates in a risotto tasting lunch at the producer’s farm, featuring a variety of rich, flavourful risottos prepared using traditional methods—paired with local cheeses, charcuterie, and a house-made dessert.  Later, we travel to Reggio Emilia, a welcoming and culturally rich town nestled between Parma and Modena, our home for the next two nights.

Overnight Albergo Delle Notarie (or similar) – 3 nights

Day 9 | Thursday, May 14 (B/D)

MODENA – REGGIO EMILIA

This morning, we set off for Modena, a city renowned for its elegant architecture, deep culinary roots, and vibrant culture. A guided walking tour will introduce us to the city’s historic heart, including the magnificent Modena Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the grand Piazza Grande. We’ll also admire the stately Palazzo Ducale (exterior visit), once home to the Este Dukes. Afterward, there’s free time to wander Modena’s lively streets, perhaps browse stylish boutiques, sample artisanal gelato, or visit one of the many gourmet shops Modena is famous for.  In the afternoon, we return to Reggio Emilia, a graceful and lesser-known gem in the Emilia-Romagna region. Known for its leafy boulevards, vibrant piazzas, and warm local spirit, it’s the perfect place to slow down and soak in the Italian atmosphere. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure—relax at a sidewalk café with a cappuccino, explore local shops, or take a peaceful stroll through the town’s charming historic center.

Day 10 | Friday, May 15 (B/L/D)

EMILIA ROMAGNA COUNTRYSIDE

Today is a celebration of Emilia-Romagna’s most iconic flavours, as we explore the world of three culinary treasures: Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma, and Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena. Our day begins in Parma, a city beloved by food lovers around the world. At a local dairy, we witness the age-old craft of making Parmigiano Reggiano, from the giant copper vats to the ageing wheels stacked high. We’ll enjoy a guided tasting, comparing different ages of this nutty, complex cheese—perfectly paired with regional honey and a glass of wine.  Next, we ascend into the hills of Parma to visit a family-run Prosciutto di Parma producer. Learn how this delicate, savoury ham is cured using only the finest pork, sea salt, and the dry mountain air. A light tasting lunch follows, featuring freshly sliced prosciutto, rustic breads, and other local delights. In the evening, we continue the culinary journey with a very special visit to a traditional Acetaia, a balsamic vinegar estate near Modena. Here, we discover the fascinating process behind crafting Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena DOP, aged slowly in wooden barrels over decades. A tasting reveals its syrupy richness and deep complexity, followed by a memorable dinner on site, where every dish is thoughtfully prepared to highlight the unique flavours of the region.

Day 11 | Saturday, May 16 (B/D)

It’s the perfect opportunity to revisit your favourite spots from earlier in the tour or to explore something new.  Stroll through the elegant boutiques of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II for a last look at Italian style—or perhaps pick up a few thoughtfully crafted souvenirs such as silk scarves, gourmet chocolates, or beautifully wrapped balsamic vinegars and olive oils. Art lovers might choose to visit one of Milan’s renowned museums, like the Pinacoteca di Brera or the Museo del Novecento, while others may prefer to simply soak in the atmosphere with a cappuccino in hand at an outdoor café near the Piazza del Duomo.  This evening gather for a celebratory farewell dinner, toast to new friendships and savour one final taste of Northern Italy’s culinary excellence as we reflect on the memorable journey we’ve shared.
