Uganda Mountain Gorilla Safari Adventure

February 17 - March 1, 2027

“Uganda is the Pearl of Africa.” — Winston Churchill

Once you experience it for yourself, you’ll understand why.

In 2027, Broad Escapes returns to this extraordinary country with a small, intimate group of just 10 adventurous women for our beloved “Gorilla Trekking Safari Uganda” journey. This is not simply a safari — it is a deeply immersive adventure into one of Africa’s most biodiverse and culturally rich destinations, thoughtfully curated with care, intention, and meaningful connection.

Uganda is where East meets West Africa — where lush rainforests give way to open savannah, the Nile surges through ancient rock, and wildlife encounters feel raw, powerful, and profoundly personal. Here, you won’t just observe. You will experience.

Our expert Ugandan guides bring this journey to life with warmth, deep knowledge, and genuine pride in their homeland — revealing layers of culture and ecology that most visitors never see.

From tracking Southern White Rhinos on foot at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, to standing at the thunderous Murchison Falls, to trekking through Kibale’s forests in search of chimpanzees — every moment builds toward the ultimate highlight: mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Standing mere metres from a gorilla family is a humbling, life-changing privilege that words can barely capture.

We also explore Queen Elizabeth National Park’s tree-climbing lions and hippo-filled Kazinga Channel, and visit inspiring women’s cooperatives where your tourism dollars directly support education, entrepreneurship, and economic independence in the communities we encounter.

This is more than a safari. It’s a wild, transformational BE adventure — with purpose.

With only 10 spaces available, this journey will fill quickly. Secure your spot today!

BEstomonials from previous guests:

This was a trip of a lifetime! The experiences and memories that I have made will be with me for the rest of my life. Super well organized, fantastic accommodations, lots of animal sightings. Every day was an absolute adventure.  Ann

As a single traveller, from the moment I was met at the airport until saying goodbye 2 weeks later I felt safe and part of the group.  We experienced sunrises on the Savannah, candlelight dinners outside with the sounds of Uganda, amazing game drives and treks with chimps and gorillas beyond expectation.  The icing on the cake was spending time with women’s co-operatives and seeing their accomplishments for empowering women to make their lives better. Janet

This was an experience of a lifetime!  It was way beyond my expectations.  Debbie

I was hoping for adventure, and that’s exactly what I got.  Everything from cruising the waters of the Nile River to trekking through the jungle following chimpanzees.   This was followed by making our way through Bwindi’s Impenetrable Forest in search of Mountain Gorillas.  This trip exceeded any expectations. Absolutely every detail was covered, and we wanted for nothing.  Thanks BE for an adventure I will never forget.  Lynn

This tour was beyond my expectations, from start to finish.  I came by myself and did not know anyone.  The group dynamics couldn’t have been better.  I met so many wonderful women on this tour and made a lot of new friends.  I would definitely travel with BE again.  Kathy B

Our trip to Uganda was an incredible experience.  I think what made it even better was travelling with a really small, manageable group of like minded women led by a strong experienced tour guide.  I look forward to travelling with Broad Escapes again!  Kathy M

Uganda was an incredible journey. Trekking with Rhino’s, Chimpanzee’s and of course Gorilla’s were a highlight.  Meeting local women who are helping their community, helping other women make their lives better.  They are truly an inspiration. This experience will stay with me forever.  Karen

Day 2 | Thursday, February 18 (B/L/D)

ENTEBBE – NAKITOMA

Today we begin with conservation in action at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Walking alongside expert trackers, we follow the footprints of Southern White Rhinos through the bush — an exhilarating and humbling experience. Uganda once lost its entire rhino population; today, thanks to protection and sustainable tourism, they are returning.  Later relax in our nearby lodge for the evening and overnight.

Overnight Amuka Lodge (or similar) – 1 night

Day 3 | Friday, February 19 (B/L/D)

NAKITOMA – MURCHISON FALLS N.P.

Entering Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest protected wilderness, the landscape opens wide. Our first stop is the top of Murchison Falls where the Nile explodes through a narrow 7-metre gorge — thunderous, dramatic, unforgettable.  We’ll visit the Nile River at the top of the falls where the water cascades down through a narrow gap on its way to the Mediterranean Sea.  This afternoon, get your cameras ready as we head out on our first safari game drive. Giraffes tower above the savannah. Elephants move quietly in herds. Buffalo, antelope, and perhaps even lion appear on the golden plains.  The park is home to the Big 5 except for the rhino as well as several antelopes, monkey species, abundant bird species and more.

Overnight at Pakuba Safari Lodge (or similar) – 2 nights

Day 4 | Saturday, February 20 (B/L/D)

MURCHISON FALLS N.P.

At sunrise, we venture into the Buligi sector of the park for exceptional wildlife viewing. The early light casts a golden glow across the savannah as predators return from the hunt and grazers begin their day. In the afternoon, we board our private boat and cruise along the Nile toward the base of the falls. Hippos grunt in the shallows. Crocodiles bask along the banks. Elephants come down to drink. The biodiversity is extraordinary — and deeply moving. At sunrise, we venture into the Buligi sector of the park for exceptional wildlife viewing. Day 5 | Sunday, February 21 (B/L/D)

MURCHISON FALLS N.P. – HOIMA

After breakfast we begin another game drive as we exit the park before travelling southwest to Hoima, historically the heart of the Bunyoro Kingdom. Our lodge reflects local culture and craftsmanship, offering eco-conscious comfort. This is a day of scenic drives, rural landscapes, and glimpses into daily Ugandan life.

Overnight at the Hoima Cultural Lodge (or similar) – 1 night

Day 6 | Monday, February 22 (B/L/D)

HOIMA – KIBALE N.P.

Today we enter the lush primate paradise of Kibale National Park, home to over 1,500 chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, cheeky baboons, and a sensational symphony of birdlife.  After a briefing, we trek into the dense forest in search of chimpanzees. The sounds guide us — rustling leaves, distant calls, branches swaying overhead.  Then suddenly — movement. A family of chimpanzees appears, swinging effortlessly through the canopy. For one protected hour, we observe them in their natural habitat. It is raw, intimate, and completely unscripted.

Overnight at Isunga Lodge (or similar) – 1 night

Day 7 | Tuesday, February 23 (B/L/D)

KIBALE N.P. – QUEEN ELIZABETH N.P.

We continue south into Queen Elizabeth National Park, where the landscape shifts dramatically from rainforest to open savannah. Crater lakes shimmer in the distance. Wildlife roams freely. This afternoon choose an exnihilating game drive or time to relax at our lodge overlooking the Kazinga Channel.  The choice is yours!

Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (or similar) – 2 nights

Day 8 | Wednesday, February 24 (B/L/D)

QUEEN ELIZABETH N.P.

The Kasenyi Plains are prime lion territory. With our expert guides, we search for prides resting in tall grasses, elephants grazing, and leopards hidden in acacia trees.  Later, a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel reveals one of the world’s largest concentration of hippos, numerous Nile crocodiles, elephants, and a whole host of birds including kingfishers, herons, storks, and skimmers. Buffalo gather at the shoreline. African fish eagles call overhead. It’s peaceful, powerful, and profoundly beautiful.

Day 9 | Thursday, February 25 (B/L/D)

QUEEN ELIZABETH N.P. – ISHASHA

This morning we visit a local women’s cooperative where entrepreneurship is transforming lives and strengthening the community. Here, tourism directly supports skills training, education, and financial independence.  Enjoy this cultural interaction and the opportunity to support this sustainable women’s enterprise.  We then continue to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, a remote and beautiful region famous for its unique tree-climbing lions. These magnificent predators are sometimes seen lounging in the branches of large fig trees — a rare and fascinating sight.  Later this afternoon we’ll set out on a game drive through the Ishasha plains. In addition to searching for the famous lions, keep your eyes open for herds of elephant, buffalo, Uganda kob, topi, and perhaps even a shy leopard moving quietly through the landscape. This rich wildlife corridor between savannah and forest offers incredible biodiversity and a true safari atmosphere.

Overnight at Ishasha Wilderness Camp (or similar) – 1 night

Day 10 | Friday, February 26 (B/L/D)

ISHASHA – BWINDI N.P.

We begin the day with a morning game drive while wildlife is most active. Following breakfast, we continue our journey toward the legendary forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The scenery changes dramatically as rolling hills and terraced farmland give way to dense rainforest — home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.  This afternoon, gather for a fascinating conservation briefing where we learn more about the mountain gorillas, their family structure, and the incredible global efforts being made to protect them. You’ll also learn how gorilla trekking permits directly support conservation and local communities, making your visit part of the solution in preserving this remarkable species.  As evening settles, the excitement builds — tomorrow is the day we meet the gorillas!

Overnight at Mahogany Springs Lodge (or similar) – 3 nights

Day 11 | Saturday, February 27 (B/L/D)

BWINDI N.P.

Today is the moment we have all been waiting for.  After an early breakfast, we travel to the park headquarters of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a briefing from expert rangers. Small trekking groups are assigned to one of the habituated gorilla families, and an advanced team of trackers will already be deep in the forest locating the gorillas’ movements from the previous night.  Our trek into the dense rainforest begins, following winding paths through trees and thick vegetation as we track these remarkable animals through their natural habitat.  Then comes the unforgettable moment — when the guides quietly signal that the gorillas are nearby.  For one extraordinary hour we observe these gentle giants in the wild, watching their natural behaviours as they move through the forest, interact with one another, and go about their daily lives. It is emotional, humbling, and often described as one of the most profound wildlife encounters on Earth.  After returning to the lodge, the afternoon is yours to relax, reflect, and share stories of this truly unforgettable experience with fellow BE travellers.

Day 12 | Sunday, February 28 (B/L/D)

BWINDI N.P.

Today offers a meaningful opportunity to connect with the local community surrounding Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.  As part of our commitment to responsible tourism, we visit Ride 4 a Woman, an inspiring community initiative that supports local women through skills training, education, and small business development. During our visit we’ll hear personal stories of resilience and transformation while participating in some of the hands-on activities.  The true highlight of our visit is the connection — sharing time, conversation, and laughter with women whose strength and determination leave a lasting impression.  The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax at the lodge, enjoy the beautiful forest surroundings, or simply reflect on the remarkable experiences of the past days. Tonight, we gather for a farewell dinner, sharing stories and reflecting on the incredible journey we’ve experienced together.

Day 13 | Monday, March 1 (B/D)

BWINDI – ENTEBBE – DEPARTURE

After breakfast we bid farewell to the forests of Bwindi and transfer to the Kihihi airstrip for a domestic flight back to Entebbe.  Upon arrival, we’ll return to our guesthouse.  Most international flights depart from Entebbe late in the evening so we’ve secured day rooms which will be available until our evening group transfer to the airport.  As we say our goodbyes, we’ll be leaving Uganda with a deep appreciation for this extraordinary country and the remarkable experiences we’ve shared along the way.
