Day 1 | Thursday, October 16 (D) ARRIVE ISTANBUL

*Independent arrival at the Istanbul Airport Welcome to Istanbul! After a warm greeting at the airport, meet our experienced local guide for a private group transfer to our comfortable and centrally located hotel, where you’ll have time to unwind after your travels. If time permits, enjoy a leisurely orientation walk through the charming streets of Istanbul, giving you a first glimpse of the city’s vibrant atmosphere. This evening, join fellow BE travellers for a delightful welcome dinner at a local restaurant, where you can start forming bonds over traditional Turkish cuisine.

Day 2 | Friday, October 17 (B/D) ISTANBUL

Immerse yourself in the rich history and grandeur of Istanbul with a full day of exploration. Start with a visit to the majestic Topkapi Palace, where the opulent Harem and the Sultan’s private quarters will transport you back in time. As we wander through the lavish rooms, you’ll discover treasures like the Spoonmaker’s Diamond and intricately jewelled swords, each with its own story. Next, we’ll visit the iconic Hagia Sophia, a marvel of architecture with its grand dome and stunning mosaics. The day continues with the Blue Mosque, where the striking sea-blue Iznik tiles create a serene and awe-inspiring space. Then stroll through the historic Hippodrome, where you can almost hear the echoes of ancient chariot races as you stand beside the towering Obelisk and the mystical Serpentine Column.

Day 3 | Saturday, October 18 (B/D) ISTANBUL

This day is dedicated to experiencing the vibrant and aromatic Spice Bazaar, where the air is filled with the scents of exotic spices, herbs, and oils. You’ll have time to browse the stalls, perhaps picking up some saffron or sumac to take home. Then, embark on a private Bosphorus Cruise aboard a comfortable motor yacht, offering stunning views of Istanbul’s skyline, with its picturesque mosques and palaces. As you glide along the water, our guide will share stories of the city’s strategic importance throughout history. Afterward, enjoy free time for lunch and exploring the Grand Bazaar at your own pace. With over 3,000 shops offering everything from handcrafted jewelry to Turkish delights, you’ll find unique souvenirs and experience the lively energy of this historic market. We’ll regroup this evening for a delicious dinner at a local restaurant, sharing stories of the day’s adventures.

Day 4 | Sunday, October 19 (B/D) INSTANBUL – CAPPADOCIA

Today, we fly to the otherworldly landscapes of Cappadocia. Upon arrival, dive into the rich traditions of Turkish craftsmanship with a visit to a carpet weaving centre. Here, you’ll witness the intricate art of carpet making, a skill passed down through generations, and gain insight into the cultural significance of these beautiful textiles. Our journey continues to Mustafapaşa (Sinassos), an ancient Greek town renowned for its stunning old houses, each telling a story of the past. We’ll make a photo stop at the breathtaking Güvercinlik Valley, where the unique rock formations create a unique landscape, and at the Red Valley, known for its striking volcanic rock formations. The day culminates in an exploration of the underground city of Özkonak, a remarkable feat of ancient engineering where you can wander through the tunnels and chambers that once provided refuge to entire communities.

Day 5 | Monday, October 20 (B/D) CAPPADOCIA

Start your day with an unforgettable optional* experience: a hot air balloon flight over the landscapes of Cappadocia. Early risers will be rewarded with a stunning sunrise and breathtaking views of the region’s unique rock formations, deep canyons, and lush valleys. The stable morning winds create perfect conditions for a smooth and serene flight. This is a photographer’s dream, so be sure to bring your camera to capture the vibrant colours and contrasts from above. Upon landing, celebrate with a traditional toast and share the excitement with your fellow travellers.

Continue our exploration of Cappadocia’s natural wonders, starting with the ethereal landscape of Dervent Valley, known for its extraordinary rock formations that resemble a Martian landscape. At the Zelve Open Air Museum, walk through ancient troglodyte houses and monastic settlements, offering a glimpse into the lives of those who once called this place home. Next, visit Pasabag, the Valley of the Monks, where the iconic “fairy chimneys” create a mystical atmosphere. In Avanos, a town with a rich history in terracotta art dating back to 3,000 BC, we’ll witness a pottery demonstration in a traditional workshop. The day concludes with a visit to the Goreme Open Air Museum, home to some of the finest examples of Byzantine art in Cappadocia. Marvel at the rock-cut churches adorned with ancient frescoes, each telling stories of a bygone era.

Day 6 | Tuesday, October 21 (B/L/D) CAPPADOCIA

Today, we continue our journey through the captivating landscapes of Cappadocia. The morning is spent discovering more of the region’s hidden gems, with time to immerse yourself in the stunning scenery and unique rock formations. Following the morning’s explorations, we’ll head to a picturesque village for a delightful Turkish Cooking Class. This hands-on experience will allow you to learn the secrets of traditional Turkish cuisine, from the preparation of fresh ingredients to the final presentation of mouth-watering dishes. After enjoying the fruits of your labour at a leisurely lunch, the afternoon is yours to relax or explore at your own pace in Cappadocia.

This evening, gather for a special night of entertainment at a local restaurant. You’ll be treated to a vibrant performance of traditional Turkish music and folk dancing, including the mesmerizing art of belly dancing. It’s an evening filled with culture, rhythm, and local traditions. Enjoy!

Day 7 | Wednesday, October 22 (B/D) CAPPADOCIA – IZMIR

This morning, bid farewell to Cappadocia and take a domestic flight to the coastal city of Izmir. Upon arrival, drive through the fertile farmlands towards Bergama, the site of ancient Pergamum. This historic city was once a major cultural and political centre, and its ruins are among the most impressive in Turkey. As we approach the acropolis of Pergamum, be awed by the sight of re-erected structures rising from the hilltop, visible from miles away. We’ll ascend to the acropolis by cable car, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Once at the top, our expert guide will lead us through the ruins, where you’ll explore the remains of the famous library, the steeply terraced theatre with its panoramic views, and the temples dedicated to Trajan and Dionysos. We’ll also visit the site of the Altar of Zeus, whose magnificent sculptures are now housed in the Pergamum Museum in Berlin. The tour provides a deep dive into the history and architecture of this ancient city, allowing you to connect with the past in a meaningful way.

Day 8 | Thursday, October 23 (B/D) IZMIR – URLA – KUSADASI

Today, we venture into the heart of the Aegean’s hidden treasures with a visit to the charming town of Urla. Our first stop is the Olive Oil Museum, to learn about the region’s centuries-old tradition of olive oil production, and sample some of the finest oils. Next, visit a local vineyard for a leisurely wine tasting, savouring the rich flavours of the Aegean terroir. Take your time to wander through the cobblestone streets of Urla’s city centre, exploring the vibrant “Art Street,” where local artisans showcase their work. From pottery and jewellery to handmade soaps and antiques, there’s something for everyone to discover. In the afternoon, visit a women’s agricultural cooperative, and meet the inspiring women who are working together to cultivate the land, raise livestock, and support their families. Their stories of resilience and determination offer a powerful reminder of the strength of community and the impact of economic empowerment. Later, continue to the seaside city of Kusadasi, and settle in for the next two nights. Enjoy a relaxing evening by the sea, reflecting on the day’s experiences.

Day 9 | Friday, October 24 (B/D) KUSADASI – EPHESUS – SIRINCE – KUSADASI

Today, we journey to one of Turkey’s most extraordinary historical sites, the ancient city of Ephesus. Once a bustling centre of commerce and culture, Ephesus is now a vast open-air museum, where history comes alive with every step. As we stroll through this well-preserved ancient city, marvel at the grandeur of the Celsus Library, with its intricate façade, and the impressive Temple of Hadrian. Stand in awe before the Ancient Theatre, which once held 25,000 spectators and is believed to be one of the largest of its kind in the world. As you walk along the marble streets, imagine the city as it was in its heyday, filled with traders, scholars, and artisans. Our next stop is the picturesque village of Sirince, perched on a hilltop and surrounded by olive groves and lush countryside. Originally named Cirkince (“ugly”) to keep outsiders away, this charming village is anything but. You’ll have free time to explore the narrow streets lined with quaint houses, local shops, and cafes. Enjoy the serene beauty of the landscape and perhaps sample some of the local fruit wines for which Sirince is famous. We return to the hotel for a relaxing evening and dinner, where you can reflect on the day’s discoveries.

Day 10 | Saturday, October 25 (B/D) KUSADASI – BODRUM

This morning, driver to Bodrum, Turkey’s stunning Turquoise Coast, known for its azure waters and vibrant culture. Along the way, stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stratonikeia, an ancient city that was once a major centre of learning and trade. As you explore the ruins, gain insight into the daily life of its inhabitants and the city’s significance in ancient times. In the afternoon, we immerse ourselves in local culture with a special visit to a Turkish family’s home. Over a traditional tea, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with the locals, learning about their customs, traditions, and daily lives. This personal encounter is sure to leave a lasting impression and deepen your understanding of Turkish hospitality. Later, enjoy leisure time exploring the coastal city of Bodrum at your own pace. With its charming tavernas, quaint cafes, art galleries, and boutiques, there’s something for everyone. This evening, gather for dinner at a local restaurant, savouring the flavours of the Aegean coast.

Day 11 | Sunday, October 26 (B/D) BODRUM

Discover the historic charm of Bodrum on a morning city tour, starting with a visit to the imposing Bodrum Castle, a fortress built by the Crusaders in the 15th century. As you explore the castle’s towers and ramparts, learn about its strategic importance in the medieval period and its role in the defence of the region. The castle also houses the Museum of Underwater Archaeology, where you can see fascinating artifacts recovered from shipwrecks along the Aegean coast. In the afternoon, unleash your creativity in a private glass blowing workshop. Under the guidance of a skilled artisan, you’ll have the opportunity to create your own unique piece of art, whether it’s an evil eye charm or a delicate glass necklace. This hands-on experience allows you to take home a tangible reminder of your journey, crafted by your own hands.

Day 12 | Monday, October 27 (B/D) BODRUM

Today is a day of leisure, allowing you to enjoy Bodrum at your own pace. Whether you choose to wander through the charming alleyways, shop for last-minute souvenirs, or simply relax by the sea, this is your time to soak in the beauty of the Turquoise Coast. In the afternoon, gather for a memorable sunset cruise aboard a private yacht. Glide through the crystal-clear waters of Bodrum, taking in the stunning views as the sun sets over the Aegean Sea. This serene and picturesque setting is the perfect backdrop for our farewell dinner, where we’ll share stories, laughter, and memories from our incredible journey through Turkey. It’s a time to celebrate the friendships formed and the experiences shared, making this final evening truly unforgettable.

Day 13 | Tuesday, October 28 (B) DEPARTURE

As our journey comes to an end, it’s time to say goodbye to Turkey. After breakfast, we’ll have a private group transfer to Bodrum Airport for your onward journey. Take with you the memories of the vibrant cultures, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality that made this trip so special.

With a diverse professional background in corporate marketing, non-profit community building and client services, creating and implementing simple and grand plans comes naturally.
