This trip is appropriate for travellers who lead an active lifestyle and have a good level of fitness. Walking/Hiking for 3-4 hours on uneven terrain, canoeing, kayaking or other moderate physical activities may be expected on this tour. Travellers who typically walk 3-5km or participate in other physical activities at least three times a week, should not require physical preparation to join this tour.
As a courtesy to fellow travellers all Broad Escape tours are considered non-smoking in that smoking will not be permitted during group activities or on board the bus.

Day 1 | Thursday, June 5 (D)
ARRIVE ANCHORAGE

Upon your arrival in Anchorage, take a quick and scenic 15-minute group transfer to the charming Copper Whale Inn, for check-in where the adventure begins. In the late afternoon, join our expert local guide—who will be with us every step of the way—for an informative briefing on the exciting adventures that lie ahead. Afterwards, we’ll gather for a delightful welcome dinner at one of Anchorage’s local restaurants, where you’ll get to know your fellow BE travellers and savour the flavours of Alaska.

Note: This is a land only tour, however, Broad Escapes will suggest a designated flight from Toronto. The group transfer will be based on the recommended group flight arrival time. Taxis or Ubers can be arranged (approximately $30USD) for those arriving at a different time/date. Flights from all gateways can be arranged through Broad Escapes.
Day 2 | Friday, June 6 (B/L/D)
ANCHORAGE
Start the day with a truly unforgettable experience at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Immerse in 10,000 years of Alaska Native history and culture as we explore captivating exhibits, watch traditional dance and Native Games demonstrations, and visit authentic Native dwellings. Gain deep insights into the lives and traditions of the Athabascan, Inupiaq/St. Lawrence Island Yupik, Yup’ik/Cup’ik, Aleut, Alutiiq, Eyak, Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian peoples. A private storytelling session will further enrich your understanding of the enduring spirit and contemporary practices of Alaska’s Indigenous cultures. After a morning steeped in cultural discovery, enjoy a picnic lunch followed by a leisurely afternoon strolling through Anchorage’s artisan shops and museums at your own pace. If you’re in the mood for an adventure, optional excursions can be arranged a few months prior to arrival. We’ll regroup in the evening for a delicious dinner, where we’ll share the day’s experiences with your fellow BE travellers.

Day 3 | Saturday, June 7 (B/L)
ANCHORAGE – SEWARD
Start the day bright and early with an unforgettable journey aboard the Alaska Railroad’s GoldStar Service. Enjoy a delicious onboard breakfast as we travel through Alaska’s breathtaking countryside in luxurious rail cars. With panoramic views from the upper-level glass-dome ceiling and an open-air viewing platform, there will be plenty of opportunities to capture the stunning landscapes unfolding along the tracks. Ranked by National Geographic as one of North America’s Top Ten Train Rides, this route offers unparalleled vistas as the train winds along Turnagain Arm, briefly stopping in Girdwood before continuing into the remote and scenic backcountry wilderness. Late in the morning, arrive in Seward on the shores of Resurrection Bay, where our next adventure begins. Board a speedy catamaran for a 6-hour guided tour of Kenai Fjords National Park, led by a National Park Ranger. Keep your eyes peeled for incredible wildlife, including whales, porpoises, sea otters, and the majestic Steller sea lion. Witness the awe-inspiring Holgate Glacier as it calves, sending massive chunks of ice crashing into the sea. Explore the rugged Chiswell Islands or Cape Resurrection, home to thousands of nesting seabirds and stunning coastal scenery. Return to Seward for check-in and an evening at leisure in the charming seaside town.

Start your day with a refreshing hike through the breathtaking trails of nearby parks, guided by our expert who will lead us through easy to moderate paths with stunning panoramic views and majestic landscapes. After the morning hike, the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Whether you choose to stroll through Seward’s quaint galleries, gift shops, and cafes, or embark on one of the many exciting activities available, there’s something for everyone. Take the time to explore this beautiful seaside town at your own pace, soaking in the Alaskan charm.

As we travel along the Seward Highway, be on the lookout for alpine landscapes, hanging glaciers, and the possibility of spotting wildlife.
